The Pukaskwa Culture has been dated to 10,000+ years before present. this culture has largely been ignored by the world archaeological community for some unknown reason. Very little has been excavated and there are new finds all the time by people exploring Pukaskwa National Park on the North Coast of Lake Superior. There is nothing like it this old in the Americas. (Pukaskwa pronounced pukasaw) According to Parks Canada archaeologists It’s now estimated that the ancestors of the Ojibway dug these out ... 10,000 years ago. Some of the pits are now even submerged because the lake wasn’t as high back then as it is today.
